Frequently Asked Questions
A celebrant is a person who performs and officiates formal ceremonies. Whilst commonly seen at weddings they can also conduct other services like vow renewals and elopements.
Ideally, you will book your celebrant as early as 12-18 months prior to your wedding ceremony. As a minimum I would recommend 2 months prior as you will need to lodge your Notice of Intention to Marry one calendar month before your wedding.
Yes, you will need to choose two witnesses who are 18 years or older who will sign your Marriage Certificate following the ceremony. This may be someone you wish to be involved in the ceremony, such as family members or friends.
It depends on how personalised you wish for your ceremony to be. Ceremonies can be anywhere from around 10 minutes to 30 minutes. Any longer, you may start seeing some yawns.
Yes! Your ceremony can be customised to incorporate personal elements based on your vision for the day. This may include specific rituals, personal vows or even speeches from additional individuals.
I will arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the ceremony start time, depending on the location and set up requirements. This will allow me to set up my PA system and prepare all the paperwork to be signed.
No need to stress, I can sort a solution out for you. I can find a replacement celebrant that has a similar approach to me so that you will feel comfortable with them. If you wish to choose an alternative celebrant, I will ensure all the legal work is completed accordingly in a timely manner and that your ceremony is in good hands.
If you want to change your surname, you’ll need a Marriage Certificate issued directly from the Births, Deaths and Marriages Department. I can organise this for you. Once you receive the certificate, you will then need to contact the various agencies, such as VicRoads, banks etc. to change your surname.
